Activated Charcoal Powder: What is Activated Charcoal? Our powder begins life as a coconut, coconut shells are a very dense material, rich in carbon. The shells are collected, sorted, and allowed to dry naturally, then they are superheated in a kiln to become “activated”. During the activation process, the charcoal becomes very poreous and its surface area is increased dramatically. As it works through absorption, this increase in surface area is what makes activated charcoal so special. Each of these microscopic pores absorb and flush out the toxins and impurities that come in contact with it.

Due to its antiseptic, antibacterial, antimicrobial and general detoxifying properties, Activated Charcoal has been used for health benefits and filtration techniques for thousands of years. Our powder works by absorbing the impurities that cause stains, another benefit is that it detoxifies the mouth, neutralizing odor-causing bacteria. Meaning that it does not work through abrasion to whiten teeth, so brushing harder will not lead to better results.

Use: Wet a soft-bristled toothbrush, dip it into charcoal powder, brush on teeth gently for 5 minutes, and rinse. Can be used up to twice a day. It may take 3-5 days to notice best results. Do not swallow. May stain light colored clothing, brush with care until you get the hang of it.

Bamboo Toothbrush: The American Dental Association recommends replacing your toothbrush every 3 months. How many plastic toothbrushes have you bought in your lifetime? To paint a larger picture, Americans throw away nearly a billion toothbrushes per year. They are not recyclable, so they ultimately end up in a landfill, ocean, or jungle. Plastic toothbrushes take over 400 years to decompose, so every one that we’ve ever owned will still be around long after we’ve moved on.

Our Bamboo Toothbrush is sustainable and 100% biodegradable, even down to the bamboo fiber bristles. If you threw one out in your yard, it would decompose naturally in 5-10 years, where it could happen in 4-6 months in a compost. Bamboo is also naturally antimicrobial, so it will stay clean and free from bacteria.
